4. Winter hat versus cap
For winter hats, if not worn daily, washing once every two months—roughly three times per season—is plenty. Most are machine-washable, but always peek at the care label for guidance.
Caps call for a softer touch. Hand wash them twice yearly in cold water to fend off stains and preserve their shape and color.
